Greenfield Gallery Workshop

Colour, Dyes, Embroidery, Kantha, Learning, pattern, Quilts, Recycling, Sewing, Stitches, Tutorials

We had a Rejig day trip to visit my ‘Layers of Memory & Meaning’ exhibition at the Greenfield Arts Gallery, Newton Aycliffe in June, and I arranged with Sophie, the Education Officer, to host a Sashiko and Kantha stitching workshop in the gallery space. We had a very creative time working with a heap of recycled tweed and denim fabric and embroidery threads, surrounded by textile pieces for inspiration, then cleared up the gallery and went out for lunch!

About the Artist

Rosi Thornton is a visual artist based in Tyne and Wear. Her interests combine pattern, print, colour, and cloth, which she uses creatively in textiles, quilts, printmaking, and handmade books.

She believes passionately in recycling, skill-sharing, and art within communities, and started the REJIG project as a way of drawing these related interests together into a creative whole.
